i never thought i’d say this but mary’s love for john is a very selfish kind of love, and therefore not true love. if you truly loved someone you wouldn’t try to kill their best friend and then try to keep it (as well as the rest of your life) a secret all because you’re scared he might leave. sherlock’s love, amazingly enough, is completely selfless. he plans the wedding for the man he loves, he vows to protect the wife of the man he loves, and he even kills a man and sacrifices his own life so the man he loves can be with his wife. even though that wife tried to kill him. even though his feelings are apparently not reciprocated by john. all sherlock cares about anymore is john’s happiness even if it means he has to give up john, the work, even his own life. THAT is true love.

How many times does Sherlock have to literally sacrifice everything for John before John realizes how much he loves him
sherlock didn’t tell John about janine being fake until it was absolutely necessary just to make him jealous. there was literally no reason not to tell him. and it worked
if you accidentally marry an assassin who intentionally shoots your best friend in the chest in cold blood and kills him (as he only survived through his own incredibly unique feat of mental effort) and then your best friend sacrifices his entire life to save you, the woman who shot him in the chest, and your unborn child and allow your family to escape the mortal danger that SHE put you in by being a cold-blooded killer (notice magnussen said FOR HIRE… this wasn’t even about principle or a cause, she was doing contract work), you’d think you could muster up a little more than a handshake and a tight smile when saying goodbye to him forever #sherlock spoilers
